ONTARIO, Calif. (April 2, 2026) — Greater Ontario California (GOCAL) is pleased to announce the Ontario Welcome Center is the launchpad for Visit California’s accessible and inclusive certified Welcome Center initiative in partnership with KultureCity. As part of the initiative, California becomes the second state to certify all of its Welcome Centers across the 12 tourism regions, with a record number of 22 certified centers.
California Welcome Centers have completed the sensory-accessible and inclusive training offered by KultureCity, the global leading nonprofit in sensory accessibility and inclusion. The training provides staff with the tools and understanding to better welcome visitors of all ages and backgrounds with sensory sensitivities and disabilities. Beginning April 23, 2026, KultureCity Sensory Bags will be available for visitors to check out and use during their California adventures, offering supportive tools designed to reduce sensory overload and increase comfort while exploring the state.
“Our Ontario Welcome Center is located in the heart of Southern California and is the perfect place to kickstart your Southern California exploration,” said President & CEO of GOCAL, Michael Krouse. “We’re thrilled to expand our resources so we can continue to welcome and support visitors in finding the best ways to enjoy the incredible dining, entertainment and outdoor adventures in the Greater Ontario region.”
Each Welcome Center will also feature a free social story available through the KultureCity App, a visual guide that helps individuals and families know what to expect before visiting. These stories are designed to support travelers who benefit from predictability, visual cues and clear expectations.
“Empowering communities through inclusion and innovation, the California Welcome Centers are aligned with the same visionary spirit as KultureCity and are championing a world where every individual, regardless of ability, is not just accepted but celebrated for their unique contributions to the tapestry of humanity,” says Uma Srivastava, Executive Director of KultureCity.
