SUMMARY:On Golden Pond
DESCRIPTION:On Golden Pond\nBy Ernest Thompson\nDirected by Ron Milts (The Dinner Party\, Oz\, Night of the Living Dead) \nSeptember 6th – 22nd\, 2024 \nRetired couple Ethel and Norman Thayer are spending their 48th summer at their vacation home on Golden Pond\, in the woods of Maine. Their delightful summer routine–fishing\, picking strawberries\, enjoying old mementoes\, listening to the loons call–is given a bitterly comedic edge by Norman’s unreliable memory and cantankerously morbid statements. When their daughter Chelsea visits for Norman’s 80th birthday\, bringing her boyfriend Bill and Bill’s teenage son\, Billy Jr.\, the whole family must come to grips with Norman and Chelsea’s mutual bitterness\, while Norman blossoms with his chance to mentor young Billy. \nThe turbulent relationship between father and daughter\, the generation gap between young and old\, and the difficulties of a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage\, all combine in a play that effortlessly illustrates the hilarious\, heartbreaking\, human moments of which life is made.\nClick to Purchase Tickets\n8PM Shows: Sept 6\, 7\, 13\, 14\, 20\, 21\n2PM Shows: Sept 8\, 15\, 21\, 22\nAuditions June 30\, July 1

SUMMARY:Seussical
DESCRIPTION:Now one of the most performed shows in America\, Seussical is a fantastical\, magical\, musical extravaganza! Tony winners\, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff\, My Favorite Year\, Once on This Island\, Ragtime)\, have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters\, including Horton the Elephant\, The Cat in the Hat\, Gertrude McFuzz\, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. \nThe Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton\, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos\, including Jojo\, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers\, but he must guard an abandoned egg\, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule\, danger\, kidnapping and a trial\, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately\, the powers of friendship\, loyalty\, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. \nThanks to generous support from the Rancho Cucamonga Community & Arts Foundation\, we are offering youth tickets (for children 12 and under) $7.50 off the regular price! Every person\, regardless of age\, needs a ticket to attend a performance at the Lewis Family Playhouse. Children must be able to sit independently in their own seat for the duration of the show. Babes in arms are not permitted.
