DESCRIPTION:Join us for Cosmic Nights with our partner\, the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers (SBVAA). The event takes place outdoors\, weather permitting\, and guests are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Museum galleries will be open during the event. General admission is $10 (adult)\, $8 (military or senior)\, $7 (student)\, and $5 (child ages 6 to 12). Children five and under are free. Museum Foundation members receive a 50% discount on admission. Parking is free. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. The partnership helps SBVAA\, founded in 1958\, achieve their goal of introducing the community to astronomy\, to organize amateur astronomers in the San Bernardino Valley area\, and to increase knowledge and excitement in astronomy.

DESCRIPTION:The Fred Harvey Experience will be held on January 25th\, 2025. Ticket price is $75\, members receive a 10% discount. Guests will arrive at 11am at the Fred Harvey Exhibit where they will be served tea and water and learn about the amazing story of Fred Harvey and the Harvey Girls. After the presentation there will be time to browse the exhibit. At noon guests will board a private trolley to take them on a ride around the Museum. They will be dropped off in front of Town Hall at 12:30pm where they will enter into a historic 1800’s re-creation of a Fred Harvey eatery. Lunch service will begin at 1pm and guests will be served a 4 course meal from original Fred Harvey receipies. The courses include: appetizer\, salad\, main entrée\, and dessert. The Fred Harvey cup code will also be used! Each personal will get a take home keepsake. At 3pm the Fred Harvey experience will conclude. DESCRIPTION:We’re converting the Museum grounds into a military encampment featuring aircraft\, military vehicles\, and Living Historian re-enactors to create a salute to our military heritage. There will be plenty of food and drink and lot’s of activities for the entire family. \nWe will have Hangar Talk sessions and a terrific opening ceremony planned. \nThere will be flying demos of some of our aircraft\, an M4 Sherman Tank demonstration as well\, Raffle Drawings for Museum Members for a flight\, and attendees will have a chance to win a flight in one of our aircraft as well. \nIn addition to the demonstration flights\, there will be a demonstration of the V-1 Pulse-Jet engine\, many other military vehicles\, encampments\, aircraft rides\, Tiny Tank battles\, Youth Programs\, Kid’s Obstacle Course\, Junior Modeler’s Workshops\, and hand’s-on activities like the Junior Modeler’s Scale Model Aircraft workshops and the “Learning to Rivet” experience. Stroll the Museum’s campus to see our incredible display of aircraft joined by dozens of visiting military jeeps\, trucks\, and other vehicles from our military past as well as dozens of historical reenactors in military uniforms putting on demonstrations and telling stories in a real encampments.

DESCRIPTION:San Bernardino County Museum announces the 2023 dates for the popular Cosmic Nights astronomy-themed evening events in partnership with the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers (SBVAA)\, and at the Victor Valley Museum\, the museum’s branch in Apple Valley\, in partnership with the High Desert Astronomical Society (HiDAS). \nThe evenings feature telescope viewing and an opportunity to discuss astronomy with telescope operators. Visitors are also encouraged to bring binoculars or set up their own telescopes. The events take place outdoors and visitors are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Guests are welcome to set up portable lawn chairs and blankets for extended viewing.
